Discover Your Business Final Event: From Ideas to New Opportunities

On Thursday 9 July, participants of Discover Your Business celebrated the successful completion of the programme during the Final Event at UCo Utrecht.

Over the past 10 weeks, participants from different backgrounds explored their talents, developed entrepreneurial skills and turned their first business ideas into concrete next steps. As one of the entrepreneurship programmes within Plan Einstein, Discover Your Business brings newcomers and local residents together to learn from each other, expand their networks and build towards economic independence.

During the Final Event, participants presented their business ideas to a panel of entrepreneurs and professionals. For many, speaking in front of an audience in English or Dutch was already a significant achievement. They received constructive feedback, practical advice and encouragement to continue developing their ideas.

The pitches reflected a remarkable diversity of ambitions. Participants shared plans ranging from a Yemeni concept store with coffee and honey, African fashion, and restaurants inspired by home cooking, to a Belgian waffle coffee shop, Arabic language lessons for children, and a podcast about mental health for young people. Each idea was rooted in personal experience, cultural identity and a desire to contribute to society.

One participant particularly moved the audience by sharing her dream of creating a podcast to support young people struggling with mental health. Her openness reminded everyone that entrepreneurship is not only about building a business, but also about creating positive impact.

The afternoon concluded with the presentation of certificates, celebrating the participants' commitment, growth and courage to take the next step.
